Malnutrition Research

Improving Nutrition Through Medically Tailored Meals

Depression Treatment & Fall Prevention

Expanding Access to Mental Health Care

In partnership with the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin, Meals on Wheels Central Texas provides an evidence-based Telehealth Treatment for Depression program for homeboudn adults age 50 and older.

The program combines virtual counseling with fall prevention strategies to improve emotional well-being, increase social engagement, and help older adults remain safely independent at home.

I was inspired to give because I have been very blessed and felt compelled to give back. I have known about Meals on Wheels for many years, and now that I’m older myself, I am more keenly aware of seniors’ needs and the difficulties they may have in getting their needs met. Your organization helps them meet their most basic need — food. I wanted to be a part of your team as a result.

Yes. While unrestricted gifts are always appreciated and allow us to meet the greatest needs of the organization, we are also grateful for gifts to any of our specific programs, including Home Delivered Meals, In-Home Care, CARE Team, and Home Repair. We also have occasional needs for specific things such as delivery vehicles and kitchen equipment. During those times, we can accept donations for those specific needs.

We appreciate the generous intentions of our supporters. There are certain types of non-monetary gifts in kind that we can accept, but others, such as most gifts of food and supplies, that may be better used if given to other non-profit organizations because we are not positioned to use them in our operations. Please call our Advancement Office at 737-218-4265 to discuss your goals.
